What is the Red RIbbon 5K?

-A run to raise awareness of substance abuse issues and outreach to the community.

 

When and Where is the 5K?

-October 10, 2015 @ 8:30am in Hollister, CA (corner of 4th & San Benito St).

 

How is the money raised for ?

-We use the money raised to pay for substance use prevention services in our local schools.

How can I register for RR5K?

-You can register online (www.active.com) or in person on the day of the event. 

 

When does online registration close?

-Online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, October 8th. Register early to avoid disappointment.

 

How will I know my registration was processed?

-You will receive a confirmation email.


How do we register to do the event as a team?

-Just follow these steps to start the process (it may seem like a long list, but you’ll find the process fast and easy):

1. Go to our online registration page.

2. Choose theme team participant.

3. You’ll be prompted for basic registrant information.

4. Check the waiver box and then click “continue.”

5. Select t-shirt size(s).

6. “Create or Join a Team.” If you’re the team’s captain, choose “Create New Team.” If you’re joining an existing team, choose “Join Existing Team.” Team capatains can create a password for the other team members to use when registering. 

7. Complete the registration and payment as prompted.

 

 

When can I pick up my race packet?

-Packet pickup will be available:

EARLY REGISTRATIONS ONLY:

Tuesday, October 6th at Mars Hill Coffee House from 11am-1pm.

Thursday, October 8th at Mars Hill Coffee House from 4pm-6pm.

LATE REGISTRATIONS:

Saturday, October 10, 7:15-8:15 a.m. at the corner of 4th & San Benito St. 

 

I’ve registered but my plans have changed. Can I get a refund?

-Your race entry is non-refundable. There are no refunds for canceled entries, nor can your race entry be deferred until next year. RR5K is a rain-or-shine event. Thanks for your understanding.

 

What is the route?

-It's an "H" shape. Route Start and end at 400 Block San Benito St.

  • Head south on San Benito St toward 5th St 

  • Turn right onto 5th St

  • Head west on 5th St toward Monterey St     

  • Turn left onto Monterey St    

  • Turn right onto South St        

  • Turn right onto West St         

  • Turn left onto 5th St  

  • Turn left onto Powell St

  • Turn left onto D St    

  • Turn left onto West St

  • Turn right onto Haydon St    

  • Turn right onto Monterey St  

  • Turn left on Palmtag Dr

  • Turn left onto San Benito St  

  • Head north to finish!

Day of the Event

 

What happens if it rains that day?

-We get wet! RR5K is a rain-or-shine event. There are no refunds so bring your umbrella or raingear!


Where can I park?
-Located in downtown Hollister, there is street parking or free parking at Briggs Parking Garage located at 365 4th St. 

 

Can I register on race day?

-Day-of registration is available, beginning at 8 a.m. The cost for adults is $30 to register for the 5K run. Children 11 and under register for $25. However a t-shirt is not guaranteed with day-of registration and lines may be very long. We strongly recommend that you register online before September 27th!

 

What should I bring?

-Bring sunscreen! Also good to bring: a camera and raingear. Plan on leaving valuables at home, as there is no gear check.

 

Will there be food and beverages available?

-Yes, there will be refreshments and water at the mid point and at the finish line.

 

Are there other activities after the race?

-Yes! We will have a DJ and guest speaker and a free kids spartan fun run.


Is the site wheelchair accessible?

-While sidewalks and other areas of the event are paved and fully accessible, post-race activities may be set up in a grassy area.

 

Can I bring a stroller?

-Yes!

 

Will there be bathroom facilities?

-Yes, porta potties will be located near the start/finish line.


How is the race timed?

-Races are timed using disposable chip technology. Your chip will be attached to your bib.

 

Who is eligible for awards?

-The top three overall finishers of the 5k to the top three finishers in each age group and trophies to the top male and female finisher. There will also be an award for the best THEME TEAM!


Will there be a gear check?

-No, we do not offer gear check. Please leave all valuables at home.

-We have several different levels of sponsorship. Donations can be monetary, in-kind, or raffle prizes.
